Matthew Hall-Fong is an emerging representational artist from the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. With a background in design Matthew took up oil painting while he was working in the print industry and it was here he was able to cultivate an acute sensitivity to colour.

Since picking up a brush Matthew has discovered a passion and an affinity for the early Australian art movements of the 19th century and like his predecessors, focuses his practice on working from life and capturing the impression of a scene, often using quick gestural brush stokes.
