There is a language, little known
11 September – 28 November 2020
During the Victorian era flowers were used to send coded messages to express feelings that otherwise could not be spoken. ‘There is a language, little known’ aims to visually represent this secret language to convey a message or sentiment. With Caroline’s love of the traditional photographic process Cyanotype and Rose’s passion for Photography and digital mediums they deliver an alliance where historical techniques merge with the contemporary. Flora is captured using digital photography and reimagined using the sun through Cyanotype.
In the contemporary era where connection through social media is the norm, the artists are inviting the viewer to court commentary upon this forgotten language and its place within modern relationships.
Virtual Meet the Artist Talk – 26 September.
Rose Watson & Caroline Wisler will present a virtual Meet the Artist talk, where they will provide insight into their artistic practice and the exhibition ‘There is a language, little known’. This will be available to view the Gallery’s website from 26 September.
